The immediacy and connectivity of Twitter became helpful when I started sharing my thoughts about Ivie's chess successes.
It allowed me to give real-time updates, engage in discussions about chess strategies, and network within the chess community.
The responses from followers were overwhelming and highlighted the interest in Ivie's progress.
After posting about Ivie's chess activities, a chess enthusiast from Omaha, known as @RCTOus, reached out with a generous offer.
He expressed his desire to purchase chess materials for Ivie and went a step further by deciding to name a tournament in her honor in Nebraska, United States.
Following through on his words, he organized the "Ivie Chess Tournament," which took place in Omaha on July 15, 2023.
In anticipation of the tournament, an official invitation was extended to Ivie, inviting her to attend and participate in her namesake event in the United States.
Unfortunately, Ivie's visa application was turned down by the US Embassy; therefore, she was unable to attend the competition in person despite her eagerness and preparedness.
Nevertheless, the Ivie Chess Tournament proceeded as planned, drawing many participants and spectators.
The 'event was a resounding success, culminating in a thrilling competition where the winner was awarded a $300 prize.
Although Ivie could not be there physically, her presence was felt throughout the tournament, inspiring young chess players and enthusiasts who attended.
In a continued show of support, @RCTOus recently sent Ivie and her sister, Adesua, a generous package that included chess bags with shoulder straps, two Chesswitivie.com silicon boards, a triple-weight and a quadruple-weight chess set, along with four black velvet Chesswitivie chess piece bags.
These thoughtful gifts were meant to be used during Ivie's future chess tournaments, offering her both practical tools and a boost of pride and encouragement as she competes.
